Wiener Stadtische interested in privatization of DDOR Novi Sad

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today that the largest Austrian insurance company Wiener Stadtische is interested in the privatization of the Novi Sad insurance company DDOR.

Dinkic, who is attending the 11th economic forum of Central and Eastern Europe held in Vienna, said that the tender for privatization of DDOR will be called in the middle of the year, adding that he expects a lot of competition.

He stressed that Austrian firms expressed great interest in investing in Serbia, adding that during his stay in Vienna he has had a number of concrete talks with prospective investors.

The Minister said that he spoke with representatives of companies from the real sector interested in the construction of new plants in Serbia, and investment in tourism.

Along with Romania, Serbia is currently the most attractive state for investment in southeastern Europe – Romania because of its big market, and Serbia because of its investment climate. Dinkic said that he informed the investors that Serbia plans to reduce income tax.

He pointed out that Serbia has better economic indicators than Romania and Bulgaria, i.e. larger economic growth and better fiscal results, and added that the Serbian government will do everything to attract as much foreign investment as possible this year too.
