Serbia-Montenegro, World Bank, IMF agree on representation
Serbian Minister of Finance and Economy Bozidar Djelic, among the Serbian government members on a working visit to the United States of America, said that the delegation reached an agreement with IMF and World Bank legal experts on representing Serbia and Montenegro in international financial institutions, the Tanjug news agency has reported.
Djelic said that they agreed on issues surrounding the appointment of fiscal agent, depositor, state union representative as well as the issue of currency. They also agreed on balancing two important goals: the normal functioning and continuation of IMF and World Bank programmes as well as providing adequate representation for both Serbia and Montenegro.
Djelic said that he will sign the agreement today, on behalf of the Serbian government. His Montenegrin counterpart Miroslav Ivanisevic will do the same on behalf of the Montenegrin government. Following this, the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro will adopt an appropriate conclusion on Tuesday and send it to the IMF before the IMF Board of Directors’ session on Wednesday, when they are to unfreeze two tranches of assistance, Djelic said.
