City Group interested in Mobtel
According to Beta news agency Minister Dinkic said today that the delegation of one of the largest international groups- City Group, would negotiate the participation in the privatisation of Mobtel, mid May in Belgrade.
“City Group is interested in Serbian telecommunications sector in general”, said Dinkic, who met the City Group representatives at the EBRD’s annual meeting in London.
The Minister also said that he met the EBRD delegation today, for talks about Serbian banking sector reforms and announced new investments in Serbian banks.
According to him, the EBRD is interested in recapitalisation of several banks in Serbia, primarily the National Savings Bank, Kulska Banka and Delta Banka.
The foreign investors also showed a great interest in bank privatisation, and not only in the ones owned by the state – Novosadska, Continental and Jubanka Banks, but for others banks, as well, such as Panonska Banka and Niska Banka.
The first investment to see the EBRD’s involvement is the construction of the American factory Ball Packaging Corporation, beginning with May in the Belgrade suburb of Zemun Polje. The investment is worth a total of $80 million, said Minister Dinkic.
The following EBRD project is to upgrade the wastewater system in Subotica. The agreement on this €9 million worth project, should be signed in the second trimester of the year.
EBRD is also ready to invest €35 million to modernise air traffic control at the Belgrade Airport, Dinkic added.
Dinkic is scheduled to attend the closing session of the Board of Governors tomorrow, together with the Finance Ministers of all member countries, and to meet the Swedish EBRD Governor Gunnar Lund.
Talks with the representatives of the large banks – UBS Investment Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, Nordic Investment Bank and Deutsche Bank are also scheduled for tomorrow.
