Anti-inflation measures begin to yield results
Serbian Assistant Minister of Finance Goran Andjelic said today that the 0.4% inflation recorded in January indicates that the anti-inflation measures of the Serbian Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Serbia have begun to yield results.
In a statement to the Beta news agency, Andjelic said that the drop in the inflation level has resulted from a reduction in public spending, stricter income policy in the public sector and a restrictive monetary policy.
Andjelic announced continuing implementation of these measures with the aim of meeting the target set for this year, and that is single-digit inflation.
The Serbian Statistics Office stated today that the inflation in January was 0.4%.
